The ANZ Centre brings a new standard of where to relax, eat and drink in Christchurch CBD

In the heart of Christchurch’s CBD, the newly built ANZ Centre needed a standout feature for its glass atrium to create a calm and inviting atmosphere. The solution was a striking six-metre white tree designed to bring a sense of tranquillity to the space.

We began by exploring different tree concepts, ensuring the final design would complement the surroundings while meeting structural requirements. Working closely with Miko Engineering, we developed a tree that was not only visually impressive but also built for strength and ease of transport.

Given the atrium’s exposure to constant sunlight, durability was key. A combination of a fabricated trunk, steel reinforcement, and natural branches provided both stability and a natural feel. To prevent discolouration, we sourced a specialist white paint and worked with suppliers to develop a bespoke UVSilx colourfast foliage.

Now standing proudly in the ANZ Centre, the tree has become a defining feature of the space, adding a sense of calm and character to the heart of the city.
