When a photo of a small red plastic garden gnome arrived by email, we didn’t expect it to turn into one of the largest bespoke-topiary pieces we’ve created to date. Standing at 2.7-metres (9-foot) tall, and a width of 1.3-metres (just over 4-foot), “Erik” was designed and built from a multi-piece polystyrene core before coating with sprayed polyurea, then covered in a mix of boxwood and buxus artificial topiary matting. The large 65cm-diameter Gerbera flower on his hat was custom designed and painted to match the logo of the garden centre chain who were the customer for this project. It
TreeLocate’s Summer 2013 UVsilx Catalogue available for download now. Following hot on the heels of releasing our main (all products) catalogue and our FIREsilx catalogue for inherently fire retardant products comes our UVsilx Catalogue for Summer 2013. The UVsilx Catalogue features many new products not previously advertised, as well as our previous products introduced since we launched the range several years ago. Of particular interest to public space planners will be our growing range of extreme environment foliage and flowers that are proving popular in locations such as the Middle East and Persian Gulf countries – locations where exceptional durability
NEWLY RELEASED – TreeLocate’s FIREsilx Catalogue for Summer 2013. Containing the full current FIREsilx range in one dedicated catalogue for the first time, designers and interior landscapers will find this an invaluable tool for setting their foliage and planting specifications. Resellers and retailers are encouraged to acquire a copy and have sales staff discuss the benefits of inherently fire retardant (IFR) artificial flowers and foliage with their customers. Printed in the final section of the catalogue are a visual record of how IFR and non-IFR foliage reacts to a naked flame such as that from a cigarette lighter or candle

New this summer in our bespoke natural trunk trees collection are artificial olive trees built on natural olive trunks and branches. This photo shows the additional realism to our built-to-order artificial olive trees, brought by using natural trunks. The tree shown was built using our colourfast and fade resistant UVsilxTM foliage. We now hold in stock several dozen olive tree trunks removed from commercial olive plantations, where they were producing a reduced crop compared to other trees. Some of these trees are approaching 200 years old according to TreeLocate’s Operations Director, George Robertson. Olive trees do not have a uniform
TreeLocate is again exhibiting in the Emirates at the Dubai Index and Office Show 2013, which is being held this week. Reports filtering back from the show suggest that attendance, enquiries, and orders are up on last year, and that further orders related to ongoing negotiations may further boost our export orders book. This ties in with recent announcements in the House of Commons that the North East region is growing exports faster than any other region in the UK. In 2012, exports to beyond the EU, from the North East, doubled compared to 2011, and for the same period

UPDATE 17 Apr 2013 – The Euro Price List is now also available from the same page as the Sterling Price List. If you haven’t already completed a
At least, that’s what the client told us they were intended as. In January, we received the spec for over a hundred artificial topiary trees to be designed, built, and delivered to a client’s crew performing the interior landscaping in a major northern shopping centre. From the outset we had (internally) referred to them variously as “teardrop topiaries”, “topiary conifers”, or just simply “teardrop trees”. However, as the delivery date drew nearer, our client began referring to them as “Egg topiaries”. Putting two and two together, to get three and three quarters, it hints at them being used for part

We’re adding a new range of decorative mosses designed for green wall creators, but also eminently suitable for spicing up floral arrangements and planter tops. Available in twenty colours we’ll initially be holding a limited selection while we assess demand from customers, although all of the other colours will be available to special order. These natural mosses are super-soft small clumps of a similar size to cotton wool balls, non-flammable, with UV-safe colour dyes. They are supplied in 48-litre boxes (40x20x60 cm), which should cover between 1.5 and 2.0 square metres at a high density and moderate thickness.
